High School Classmates Are Extended Family

Hannah Camenzind and Ryan Fitzpatrick were classmates in the Brevard High School class of 2001. Both received Connestee Fallsscholarships during their senior year. And now they are almost family, as Ryan's sister Katie married Hannah's older brother Roc in 2016. Their paths cross frequently, even though Ryan lives in Washington, D.C., and Hannah has moved back to Brevard. Born and raised in Brevard, Hannah is happy to be back home. After her graduation from Brevard High, she attended Brevard College with the help of several scholarships, including her Connestee Fallsscholarship and a volleyball scholarship. Jackie Morrison tells her two daughters, Kiana and Londyn, that “education unlocks the world.” She wants to make sure they know that and they see how hard she has worked for her education. Morrison acknowledges that receiving two Connestee Falls Scholarships in a row has helped her a lot to meet her educational goals. Morrison graduated from Brevard High School in 2005 when Kiana was less than a year old. She wasn’t eligible to graduate as a Transylvania County scholar because she stayed home with her daughter the first semester of her senior year and thus missed the required classes. In 1974, John Bone, a pilot for Eastern Airlines, happened to fly over Western North Carolina. He was impressed with what he saw. The next week he drove to the area from his home in Connecticut, and the week after that he moved his wife Ingrid, a native of Norway, and their two children, Anne and Sven, to Brevard. Soon thereafter, their third child, Hans, was born at Transylvania Hospital. Both Hans and Sven received Connestee Falls scholarships – Hans in 1993 after he graduated from Brevard High School and was entering his first year at Brevard College, and Sven in 1994 when he was in his second year at BC.
