CONNESTEE FALLS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM HONORED AT BREVARD SOCIETY CELEBRATION

On Saturday evening, April 14, 2018, the prestigious Brevard College Lifetime Giving Society recognized the Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program as a member of the Weaver Circle ($250,000 - $499,999) at the Brevard Society Celebration, which was held at the College’s Francis Pavilion at the Porter Center for the Performing Arts. The honor was presented in recognition of the Scholarship Program’s having donated more than $250,000 to the College since the Program’s inception in 1987. The donations have funded scholarships for more than one hundred Brevard College students.

Receiving the framed certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program were current Program Chairs Bill Medl and Gay Coffin, along with past Program Chairs Sarah Hysong, Dave Collins, and Bill Watson. Former Connestee Falls scholarship recipients were also present to share in the evening’s celebration. Medl expressed appreciation for the honor, stating, “We’d like to thank the countless number of Connestee Falls residents and staff, volunteers, local small and large businesses, and others who have supported the Scholarship Program during the past 30 years. The organizers of the first Connestee Falls Pro-Am Golf Tournament, which raised enough money to fund a single scholarship for a student enrolled at Brevard College, could not have imagined that thetournament would continue to grow and evolve into such a successful program, which now benefits local students attending Brevard College, Blue Ridge Community College, and Transylvania County Schools. It’s simply been amazing to witness the difference that our Program’s investment in the community has made in the lives of so many deserving individuals.”
